 Lori Wiedeman BC Ministry of Transportation

Lori Wiedeman is the Acting Director, Human Resources with the BC MInistry of Transportation. She has worked for BC's provincial government since 1983 in the operational HR, project management, bussiness analysis and strategic planning. Working in 11 different Ministries and agencies in the Public Servic has given her a unique perspective on the challenges faced by both central agencies and line operations. She spent several years working on the Coporate Human Resources Information and Payroll System as a Business Analyst, implementing a wide variety of data analysis and reporting tools for the Public Service before moving back to an opertaional HR role in 2001.

Brenda Rowe has been with Jazz Air Inc. (Air Canada Jazz) since 1987 and previously Eastern Provincial Airlines and Canadian Airlines (since 1978 and 1986, respectively). Her airline caeer began with a flight attendant position and she rose through her ranks to become Manager, Recruitment and Relocation Manager for Air Canada Jazz, where she is now responsible for the recruitment strategy for all Jazz employees across the country and the daily implementation of the plan. With her team, she also manages the Relocation Program for hundreds of crews and management staff transferred to bases nationally.

Les is a principal with Quantium Inc. - Practitioners in Organizational Improvement -specializing in consulting and training services to public and private sector organizations. Les' background includes assignments in service, management and quality at Xerox Canada Ltd. from 1973 to 2000. As Organizational Effectiveness Manager, Les was responsible for productivity and level of service improvement, facilitation and support of Customer Teams, and implementation of the Business Excellence Process. Les served on the Xerox Transition Design Team and was instrumental in creating and launching the Business Process Management Program and in creating a network of change agents. He facilitated Benchmarking studies for the North American Integration Quality Improvement Team and has served as assessor for the Quality Council of British Columbia Silver Award Program. Les studied Computer Science at Simon Fraser University and Administration at the University of Manitoba. He attended one of the last Deming Institute courses on Quality, Productivity and Competitive Position delivered by W. Edwards Deming. Les is an advisor for the National Quality Institute and an active member of the British Columbia Centre for Quality. Les volunteers as Trainer and Communications Officer for Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons (Norvan - Pacific Mainland District), as a speaker for the Quality Action Teams of BCCQ, and as a special committee appointee of the Board of Directors of Providence Health Care. Les lives in North Vancouver with his wife Nancy. |

A member of the TELUS HR Senior Leadership Team, Mark Lang is the Human Resources Business Partner for TELUS Corporate Affairs and also the Senior HR Lead on Enterprise Strategic Projects. Prior to joining TELUS last August, Mark spent three years with Capital One Financial in Richmond, Virginia, where he was very involved in process engineering, organizational redesign, outsourcing and HR program design. Mark was awarded the Circle of Excellence Award for the redesign of Capital One's Direct marketing centre based on lean process principles. |
