Dale S. Meister

Dale S. Meister is a partner in the Calgary office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the leader of the international tax services practice. He has specialized in international taxation and corporate reorganizations for over 25 years. Dale is responsible for tax planning for numerous large public and private companies. He has been very active in tax planning for international corporate acquisitions and restructuring, and efficient debt financings for both Canadian outbound and inbound investments.

Dale has been an active speaker and has previously lectured for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, Canadian Bar Association, Canadian Petroleum Tax Society, Canadian Tax Foundation and the Tax Executive Institute in Washington D.C. Dale was a lecturer for the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants Indepth Part II (Corporate Reorganizations) course for many years. Dale has published numerous articles for the Canadian Tax Foundation, Canadian Petroleum Tax Society, Federated Press, Insight Press and others.

Dale graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Commerce. He was also a Dean's List member in Faculty of Business and Commerce. In obtaining is Chartered Accountant designation he received the Bronze Medal in Financial Accounting.

Andrew McBride
Deloitte

 

Andrew McBride is a senior manager in Deloitte's International tax services practice specializing in providing international and domestic tax services to both Canadian and foreign based multinational companies. Andrew has approximately 10 years of professional experience dealing with Canadian and international related tax matters. Andrew's activities relate primarily to planning for acquisitions, financing and related cross border tax planning opportunities, together with overall management responsibilities for client engagements and related matters. Andrew is also a member of our Mergers and Acquisition group providing tax due diligence and structuring services.

 


Drew Glennie
Shell Canada Limited

 

Mr. Drew Glennie completed his chartered accountant's designation in Toronto and shortly thereafter joined the Department of National Revenue. In 1978 he joined Shell Canada in the Tax and Insurance Department in Toronto. Mr. Glennie was transferred to the Tax and Insurance Department in Calgary in 1979 and returned to the Toronto Tax Department in 1982. He returned to Calgary in 1984 when the company moved its headquarters to that city. From August 1987 to December 1988 Mr. Glennie was Manager, Corporate Finance and Investor Relations. On January 1, 1989, Mr. Glennie assumed the position of Director, Tax and Insurance and on March 1, 1991, was appointed General Manager, Tax and Insurance. Mr. Glennie was the International President of the Tax Executives Institute for 2002/03. Currently he sits on the Board of Directors. Mr. Glennie is also a member of the Advisory Committee to the Minister of National Revenue in Canada. He is also a member of the IRS Advisory Council in Washington, D.C.

 


Michael J. Wilson
Ernst & Young LLP

 

Michael J. Wilson is a senior tax executive with over 30 years experience. He has a unique combination of leadership, technical and operational skills and knowledge. Mike has worked with many multinational corporations to assist them meet their tax function objectives and move toward a best-cost, highest value operational model. Mike currently leads the risk advisory component of Ernst & Young's Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory Service ("TARAS") practice in Canada. In that role he assists clients manage tax risk, improve operational effectiveness and efficiency and drive value from the tax function.

 


Tim McGillicuddy
TELUS Corporation

 

Tim McGillicuddy leads the tax function at TELUS Corporation as Vice-President, Taxation. In his more than 28 years of tax experience, Tim has seen first-hand how several corporations have dealt with tax reporting, internal controls and tax risk management in his role as tax provision auditor with Arthur Andersen in Calgary and his corporate tax experience with Alberta Energy Company (a predecessor to EnCana), Gulf Canada and TELUS. During TELUS' evolution in its privatization from a government-owned provincial telephone company, Tim has built a large multi-function corporate tax department from scratch and, with his team at TELUS, has designed and developed world-class tax reporting processes. Tim is a member of both the Tax Executives Institute Inc. and the Tax Director Roundtable of the Corporate Executive Board and is a former Governor of the Canadian Tax Foundation.

 


Kate Walsh
Ernst & Young LLP

 

Kate Walsh is Senior Manager in Ernst & Young's Tax Accounting and Risk Advisory Services Group. Kate's group provides an array of consulting services to improve the operating performance of tax departments, including organizational design, process re-engineering, benchmarking, risk management, documentation, design and remediation of internal controls, performance measurement and technology solutions. Most recently, Kate has assisted our clients with the implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley 404 relating to internal controls for financial reporting for taxes. Kate has been significantly involved in the Canadian Firm's development and roll-out of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 solution for tax, helping clients document, assess and improve internal controls of tax operations. Kate has over 10 years of experience with Ernst & Young, providing attest and tax services to an array of clients in a number of diversified industries, including telecom, mining and oil and gas.

 


Jennifer Weingardt
PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP

 

As Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP Canadian Advisory Services practice, Jenny H. Weingardt has over twenty years of Financial Process, Risk and Internal Control experience in a variety of complex business environments and working with Senior Management, Board of Directors and other governance bodies in the arena of Governance, Business Risk, Internal Control and Risk Management Frameworks.

She has worked with Senior Management to facilitate or lead meetings and a particular strength is her ability to achieve buy-in and consensus for recommended actions.

Current clients include: Peak Energy Trust, Cameco, Canada Safeway, Enerflex, EPCOR, and Vermillion Income Trust.
