His wide ranging business knowledge enables Roy to address problem solving at a strategic level, while still being fully involved in daily operational and implementation issues.
Roy brings an understanding of Capital Planning solutions to the table and can help organizations create a vision of how CPSI solutions could be implemented to optimize the return on capital assets. As a researcher, educator and mentor in the field of civil engineering, Dr. Ralph Haas has achieved national and international recognition for important contributions to pavement engineering and infrastructure management. He pioneered the application of systems concepts and developed innovative technologies for managing networks of paved roads. His concept is now used by municipal, provincial, state and federal government transportation agencies in North America and abroad. He has maintained a prolific output of research over four decades. Recently, he led a research team at the University of Waterloo that received an unprecedented $9-million funding package from federal, provincial, regional and private sector partners to advance state-of-theart research into Canadian pavement and transportation. He has lectured and consulted worldwide, published over 400 papers and authored 12 books.

 Dr. Susan Tighe, P.Eng. University of Waterloo
|
Dr. Susan Tighe is currently a Canada Research Chair in Pavement and Infrastructure Management and an Associate Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Waterloo. She recently received the Young Engineer Award from the Professional Engineers of Ontario. She is an author of over 80 technical publications in pavements and infrastructure and is involved in a number of research projects. She is a member of various Transportation Research Board activities including the LTPP Expert Task Group on Data Analysis, and the Chair of the Subcommittee on Airport Pavement Management Systems.
She is the Chair of the Transportation Association of Canada's, (TAC) Standing Committee on Soils and Materials, and a member of their Standing Committee on Pavements. Susan worked four years for the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario and most recently spent five months in Australia working for a contractor as a senior technical advisor.

 Reg Andres, P.Eng. R.V. Anderson Associates Limited

Reg Andres is a Principal and Vice-President of R.V. Anderson Associates Limited, a firm of consulting engineers, architects and technology managers in Toronto. Since graduating from the University of Guelph in 1973 he has spent over 30 years in municipal/ environmental engineering. He specializes in asset management and environmental assessments with a focus on sustainable asset management and the development of life cycle management practices in municipal public works. His experience in municipal infrastructure includes a presentation to the Walkerton Inquiry, participation in the National Round Table on the Environment and Economy, and a Chair position on the Expert Panel for the Civil Infrastructure Systems Technology Road Map initiative for the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. He is currently participating on the National Asset Management Working Group, developing a national framework for asset management, and represents CSCE on the transition team for the National Round Table for Sustainable Infrastructure.

 John Duong, M.Eng. P.Eng. Regional Municipality of Halton

John Duong is the Supervisor of Infrastructure Management at the Region of Halton. The Infrastructure Management group is responsible for determining the condition assessments of both water and wastewater linear and plant assets, which are then used to identify non-development capital projects in the 10-year budget forecast. John has a bachelors and masters degree in Civil Engineering from McMaster University. Prior to the Region of Halton, he worked in the consulting industry for R.V. Anderson and Stantec Consulting.

Casey Goossens is an Executive Business Director with VFA Canada Corporation based in Vancouver, British Columbia, responsible for developing software and methodology for managing physical assets. Previous to that, he was a Vice-President at Physical Planning Technologies, a technology firm in Toronto, and a Vice-President with Duke Solutions Canada, a division of Duke Energy, one of the largest utilities in the world. Gerry Davis City of Hamilton

Gerry Davis is the Director of Capital Planning and Implementation for the City of Hamilton. His portfolio includes Asset Management, Strategic and Environmental Planning, Open Space Development and the Design and Construction of Capital Programs for the City of Hamilton. He has worked in municipal government for 26 years and has been with the City Of Hamilton for the past 20 years. He is a Certified Management Accountant and has participated in working groups for the Decision Making and Investment Planning committee for the National Guide to Sustainable Municipal Infrastructure (InfraGuide), he is a member of the Municipal Infrastructure and Investment Planning group.

John Murray is the Manager of Asset Management within the Public Works Department at the City of Hamilton. John has been with the City's Public Works department for 12 years and has extensive experience in infrastructure management practices and computer information systems. Prior to his current position he held the positions of Senior Project Manager of Infrastructure Programming and Project Manager of Infrastructure Management Systems. His responsibilities include the delivery of a short and long term coordinated capital budget and also the development and implementation of a strategic asset management program encompassing all Public Works assets. |

Karl Scharnitzky is responsible for product line development at Capital Planning Solutions, Inc. (CPSI), a leading edge company expanding the capabilities of the public and private sector in total capital planning, including renewal spending. He is an experienced manager with a varied background in a cross-section of industries ranging from aerospace to hydro-electric power production. During his 20-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces he progressed from being an aerospace engineer in charge of maintenance to the senior office responsible for the development and implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) for the entire fleet of military aircraft. Following this, he expanded his management experience by consulting on RCM development and implementation for industry applications, creating an RCM system for a major airline and as project manager for a major software development effort in maintenance management.
