As Vice President Consulting, Andrew Kidd heads up CBRE Global Consulting for Canada focusing on asset and portfolio optimization strategies, development feasibility and project management (commercial and residential), public private partnerships, and acquisition/disposition/leasing /financing strategies, across Canada. He has held senior management positions with large Canadian real estate companies including Manulife Financial, Intracorp Developments and Cadillac Fairview. A lawyer and developer by background, he brings a combined understanding of landlord and tenant’s perspective to real estate owners and users in both the public and private sector. Andrew is a speaker at industry association seminars and conferences, a guest lecturer at the Schulich School of Business and University of Guelph, a member of the Board of Trade Planning & Development Committee, a member of the Canadian Bar Association, and sits on the board of several charities and community organizations. Andrew and his department act for banks, pension funds, federal and provincial governments and crown corporations, Universities, municipalities, school boards and wide selection of private sector investors and developers.

Associated Brownfields Inc.

 

As Founding Partner of Associated Brownfields Inc., Dr. Andrew Panko is a Brownfields developer with a strong background in environmental consulting. He is a geochemist licensed by the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and an Ontario Ministry of the Environment 'Qualified Person'. In 2003, he founded Brownfield Revolution, Inc, focusing on the remediation and subsequent development of environmentally distressed properties. Currently, he is a founding partner in Associated Brownfields Inc., a company that purchases and rehabilitates environmentally distressed properties, and is President of their consulting arm, Associated Brownfields Services Ltd., which provides environmental consulting services to the brownfield industry in general, as well as internal services to ABI's own projects.

Altus Helyar Cost Consulting

 

G. John Fleming is President of Altus Helyar Cost Consulting, a division of Altus Group Limited and the leading development cost consulting firm in Canada. John has been providing professional cost management services to commercial, institutional and residential clients for more than 30 years. His expertise includes financial assessment studies, life-cycle cost studies, pre-contract estimating and cost control, post-contract cost control, project monitoring, value management, reconstruction appraisals, expert witness, and arbitration. In addition, John has made formal presentations on development cost planning and management to banks, educational institutions, and developers.

 


Dennis Kunde
CIBC Mid-Market Investment Banking

 

As Senior Director, Dennis Kunde originates and executes midmarket real estate investment banking transactions for CIBC's Mid-Market Investment Banking Group. He has assisted a broad spectrum of owners and investors in the North American real estate markets during his tenure with CIBC World Markets in Toronto and New York. His transaction experience includes public and private equity and debt placement, M&A and property brokerage assignments. He developed Canada's first and widely quoted REIT index and co-authored the Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust Guide.

 


Jeffrey W. Lem
Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP

 

Jeffrey W. Lem was called to the bar in Ontario and certified as a Specialist in Real Estate Law by The Law Society of Upper Canada. He is also admitted as solicitor in England and Wales. He is a partner with Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP, where he practises commercial real estate and secured lending. He is the co-editor-in-chief of the Real Property Reports and is the legal editor of Building Magazine. He is an Executive Member of the Real Property Section of the Ontario Bar Association, and the editor of The Abstract Page, the section's newsletter. He has also written widely for various journals and magazines.

 


Chris Barré
First Gulf Development Corporation

 

Chris Barré is Vice-President, Development with First Gulf Development Corporation, which is the commercial extension of the highly successful Great Gulf Group of Companies. The Great Gulf Group of Companies specialize in residential development spanning the entire real estate spectrum from land acquisition and development to master planned communities throughout North America. In his role with First Gulf, Mr. Barré is responsible for managing the due diligence, design and approvals of all projects as well as being involved in negotiating agreements with the various authorities, co-owners and tenants/purchasers. He is also responsible for overseeing the remediation of all environmentally impacted sites in First Gulf's portfolio.

 


Margaret Knowles
Morguard Investments Limited

 

Margaret Knowles joined Morguard Investments Limited in 1994 and was appointed Senior Vice President, Development in 2004. Before joining Morguard, as Vice President of Airport Corporate Centre Inc., she directed the development of a major 540-acres business park in Mississauga, Ontario, including the construction of the first 250,000 sq. ft. office tower for Spar Aerospace. During the last three years the Development Department has averaged just under $200 million in development activity in each year on behalf of Morguard's pension fund clients.

 


Leslie M. Klein
Quadrangle Architects
Leslie M. Klein is a founder and principal of Quadrangle Architects Limited, which is among Canada's most dynamic architectural firms. Previously the founding partner of Klein Taylor Goldsmith Limited, Les merged his firm with Curtner Brown Architects to create Quadrangle in 1986. His work in innovative residential development for diverse populations, the adaptive reuse of existing structures and the creation of dynamic environments for ideasbased private sector entrepreneurs has greatly influenced the growth and success of the firm.
