John Hague is a Managing Director, Private Placements, Deloitte & Touche Corporate Finance Canada Inc. John has more than 20-years experience in mid-market corporate finance as a lender, corporate treasurer, and investor. He held a variety of management positions with Canadian and international banks with particular responsibilities for originating, negotiating and managing a wide range of financial transactions for mid-market Canadian companies. As a director of a number of private and public client companies, John has actively participated in their long-term development as well as day-to-day management.

Jeff Burdon has been working in the Canadian financial services industry for the past 16 years. Prior to joining Bank of America Canada as Vice President of Asset-Based Lending in 1997, Mr. Burdon was a successful commercial and corporate lender with two of Canada's Schedule I banks. Mr. Burdon is Chairman of Membership for the Toronto Chapter of the Commercial Finance Association.

Bank of America Canada, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Bank of America, the second largest bank in the U.S. With over $7.5 billion in assets, Bank of America Canada has been active in the Canadian market place for over 25 years. The Bank has more than 300 employees with offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal.

 


Anthony J. Cohen
Gulf & Pacific Equities Corp.

 

Anthony J. Cohen is CEO and CFO of Gulf & Pacific Equities Corp. He received a B.S.B.A. (Bachelor of Science Business Administration) from Creighton University, Omaha Nebraska in 1980. He is founder and President of Ceyx Properties Ltd. (founded in 1985), Plato Gold Corp. (founded in 1996) and Gulf & Pacific Equities Corp (founded in 1998). Mr Cohen is a Director of all three companies as well as Gendis Inc., a TSE listed company involved in he natural gas pipeline business and the retail business through the Saan Stores national retail chain. Mr. Cohen has lectured at the University of Toronto.
Paul Stevens
The CIT Group, Inc.
Starting out in banking upon graduating from York University with an Honours Degree in Economics, Paul has been involved in the finance industry for over 20 years. Paul spent eleven years working with chartered banks as a lender to commercial and corporate borrowers. This was followed by several years with a private placement firm offering senior debt to a similar market on behalf of a number of largely non-bank financial institutions. For the past three years, Paul has been working in the leasing industry focusing primarily on equipment and energy management financing.

 


Patrick Montpetit
Bioniche Life Sciences Inc.
Patrick Montpetit is currently the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Bioniche Life Sciences Inc., an established biopharmaceutical company that has developed a diversified portfolio of products for both human and animal health. In his role at Bioniche Life Sciences he has successfully assisted the CEO to raise $7 million and is currently involved in activities to raise an additional $25-35 million. Prior to joining Bioniche Life Sciences Inc., Mr. Montpetit held senior financial positions in several biotechnology organizations and was instrumental in securing financing from both private and government funding sources where he helped raise over $50 million in the past 6 years. Mr. Montpetit holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has served as a panelist in a round table on cross border Transactions at Bio 2000, served as a task force member of the Biotechnology Human Resource council and held Board of Directors seats in biotechnology organizations.

 

George R. Fowlie
NB Capital Partners Inc.
Mr. Fowlie joined NB Capital Partners as a Partner in January 2000. Prior to joining NBCP, Mr. Fowlie was a Managing Director at National Bank Financial and First Marathon where, from 1991 to 1999, he was responsible for equity underwriting, private placements of debt and equity, M & A, and general corporate finance advisory work. Coverage focused on industrial products, financial services, and technology sectors. Mr. Fowlie also has five years of merchant banking experience at First City Capital, 10 years mid-market and mezzanine financing experience as a Partner at Commercial Capital, and four years corporate banking experience at Mercantile Bank of Canada. Mr. Fowlie holds a B.A. in English from University of Toronto and has an MBA from University of Western Ontario. He has served on a number of public and private company boards, and is active in community and charitable organizations.

 

Mauro Spagnolo
CIBC
Mauro Spagnolo joined CIBC in January 1986 and is currently Vice President, Knowledge-Based Business. KBB is a national team servicing the financing needs of Technology, Health Sciences and Entertainment companies across Canada. During his 15 year tenure at CIBC, Mauro has focussed on a variety of industry sectors including automotive, manufacturing, retail and cross border financing. Mauro also has private sector experience, operating both technology and real estate companies. Mauro received his Honors Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario in 1984 and is in the final year of his Executive MBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business.
