Peter Finkle
Southlake Regional Health Centre

 

As of November 2005, Peter Finkle accepted the role of Chief Operating Officer at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario. In this role Peter is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations at Southlake.

Prior to joining the Southlake Team, Peter Finkle had been seconded to the position of Acting Director of Hospitals Branch of the Acute Services Division of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. As well, he is the Executive Lead for Hospital Multi-Year Funding. Peter held the position of Regional Director, Eastern Region, Health Care Programs which he's occupied since1999. Prior to this appointment, he was the senior consultant for the Health Services Restructuring Commission.

He began his career with the ministry in 1987 as an economist and has held a number of positions in the Institutional Health area, including Director of Central Region and Manager of Planning and Operations. From 1982 to 1987, he worked for the Ontario Division of the Canadian Red Cross in Care Services/Homemaker Services and in Community Services. Mr. Finkle's educational background consists of a Master of Arts in Public Administration, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Public Administration, both attained at Carleton University in Ottawa. He also holds the designation of a Canadian Health Executive (CHE), as awarded by the Canadian College of Health Service Executives. Mr. Finkle was the recipient of the Ace Award in 2001. He has lectured on health administration at several universities, as well as been a guest speaker at numerous conferences.

Ken Tremblay
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance

 

Ken Tremblay joined the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance as President and CEO in 2003. Previously, he headed an executive search practice for physicians and healthcare executives and was also President and CEO of: St Joseph's Hospital, Brantford; York Central Hospital, Richmond Hill; and, St. Boniface General Hospital, a teaching hospital in Winnipeg. Ken, a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian and American Colleges of Health Service Executives, has many publications to his credit and is a member of the adjunct faculty of the University of Toronto's Department of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation in the Faculty of Medicine. In addition to hospital leadership, he has been an active participant in many other areas of the healthcare system, including provincial and national associations, advisory and professional bodies, community agencies and consultant to the private sector. He is the editor of Longwood's Case Study Library and a member of two editorial boards.

 


Ruth R. Armstrong, MBA
VISION Management Services

 

Ruth R. Armstrong, MBA, founded VISION Management Services in 1986 - a management consulting practice committed to building accountable organizations through strategic leadership. Ruth is a dynamic presenter and facilitator; she has provided leadership development and consultation to more than 250 public, private and nonprofit organizations in Canada and the U.S. Ruth specializes in the areas of governance, strategic planning, leadership development, conflict resolution and organizational change. Ruth conducts workshops on a variety of topics for executive directors, senior management teams and board members. Ruth's facilitation skills create a highly stimulating learning environment. Ruth is an Adjunct Faculty Member at York University - Schulich School of Business. Ruth is a recognized leader in governance, teaches non-profit governance and accountability in the MBA program and has published a number of articles on these subjects.

 


Linda Mollenhauer
Mollenhauer and Associates

 

Linda Mollenhauer is currently an independent consultant with over 25 years of experience in the non-profit and charitable sector. She has worked with a wide variety of organizations in strategic planning, board issues, organizational development and evaluation and does both facilitation and training. Linda has developed a number of publications and resource tools for the voluntary sector including, Benchmarks of Excellence for the Voluntary Sector; A Culture of Accountability; Standards of Success and Audit of Volunteer Management Practice; Engaging People in Building an Inclusive Community; Federated Organizations: A Framework for Success; and Sustainability Planning: Building From Strength. As President and CEO of the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy, Linda was responsible for a significant restructuring that lead to the organization being a leading voice in research and advocacy for the sector. She was also Director of the IMAGINE national program to encourage corporate and individual giving and volunteering.

 


John Ball
Trillium Health Centre/Keyser Mason Ball, LLP

 

Mr. Ball is the immediate past chair of the Trillium Health Centre, as well as Managing Partner of Keyser Mason Ball LLP, a Mississauga- based business law firm. He has practiced corporate/commercial law for over 30 years and has served as National Chairman of the Canadian Bar Association Communication Committee and in various capacities on the Executive of the Ontario Bar Association. Mr. Ball was an instructor for ten years at the Bar Admissions Course of the Law Society of Upper Canada in Business Law. He serves as a director of several Canadian and United States corporations. Trillium Health Centre responds to the growing health care needs of the over one million residents it serves in Mississauga, south Etobicoke and the surrounding region. A regional centre for Stroke, Neurosurgery and Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence, and a provincial centre for Cardiac Services, the hospital is also home to the busiest Emergency department in Canada and the largest freestanding day surgery facility in North America.

 


Ken W. White
Trillium Health Centre

 

Ken White is President & CEO of the Trillium Health Centre. Ken has over 30 years experience in the health care sector as President & CEO. In 1996, Ken became President & CEO of Queensway General Hospital. In 1997, he was appointed President & CEO of The Mississauga Hospital and Queensway General Hospital, charged with the amalgamation of those two facilities effective April 1, 1998. Today, the newly named Trillium Health Centre is one of the largest community hospitals in Canada and serves over one million people. The health centre has received numerous national and international awards, including being a two-time recipient of the 3M National Quality and Innovation Award and receiving recognition four years running as a Canada Top 100 Employer. Ken has an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a postgraduate degree in Health Services Administration. He has held several academic appointments at the Universities of British Columbia, McMaster and Lakehead. He is a member of the Canadian College of Health Service Executives and an Associate of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Ken recently completed The Directors Education Program offered through The ICD Corporate Governance College and the Joseph L. Rotman, School of Management, University of Toronto.

 


Kim Bossy
Chatham-Kent Health Alliance

 

Kim Bossy brings 20 years experience in public affairs to her current position as Chief Communications Officer at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance - a partnership of three hospitals located in Southwestern Ontario. Her responsibilities include internal and external corporate communications, media relations, government affairs, corporate branding, marketing and community relations. As a member of their Executive Leadership Council, Kim supports change and issues management, strategic planning and Board development. Kim's strategies to "inform, involve, inspire and invest", have earned her provincial and national awards.

 


Andrea Plotnick, Ph.D.
Hay Group

Andrea Plotnick, Ph.D. has a Doctorate in Applied Social Psychology, with a focus on Organizational Psychology, and 17 years of consulting experience to private, public and not-for- profit clients. She is currently the National Expertise Director, Organizational Effectiveness at the Hay Group, where she developed and heads up the Board Governance service line. Her scope of service responsibility at Hay also includes organization analysis, design and development, leadership assessment and development, strategic change management, and HR strategy and transformation. Immediately prior to her current position, she held leadership roles with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and executive positions within the high technology sector. Dr. Plotnick is a sought after speaker. She has facilitated and presented at numerous conferences and symposia and has been interviewed for numerous national publications. She is a member of the faculty of the Directors College, a joint venture between McMaster University's De Groote Business School, and the Conference Board of Canada.
