Patrick Doig is a Senior Vice-President with Marsh Canada Limited, the world's leading risk advisor and insurance broker. His 25-years career in the risk advisory and corporate insurance industry has included providing risk finance and risk transfer solutions to Finan-cial Post 100 companies, industry groups and associations. He has worked in Calgary and Toronto with a leading global insurer as a financial products underwriter, providing Corporate Directors and Officers and related management liability insurance coverage. He has presented to numerous boards of directors, audit committees, corporate advisors and industry associations on board risks and insurance responsiveness. In his corporate business and product development role, he works closely with Marsh's Private Equity Mergers and Acquisitions (PEMA) practice, which provides private equity firms and corporations with M&A advisory and insurance due diligence services for human capital and operational risks. These services also include the provision of specialty financial products and risk and credit solutions to enhance transactions.

Fay holds the designations of Fellow Chartered Accountant and Chartered Director.

 

Andrew Poprawa
Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario

 

Andy Poprawa is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO), an Ontario crown agency, which regulates 205 Ontario credit unions and caisses populaires and insures over $26 billion in deposits held by l.7 million Ontarians. As part of its mandate, DICO also has the responsibility for establishing standards of sound business, governance and risk management practices for its insured institutions. Andy has over twenty-eight years of experience in the financial services industry.

Marcus Guenther is Vice-President of Focus- ROI Inc., a company that provides orientation, planning and training services with regard to internal control certifications. He works with corporations and accounting firms to improve their corporate governance, workflow, use of automation tools and internal control.

 

Glen Norton
Meridian Credit Union

 

Glen Norton is currently Vice President, Risk Management at Meridian Credit Union where he over sees all credit, internal audit and enterprise risk management. Glen and his team are in the second year of what they view as a five year project to fully implement ERM into the processes and culture of Meridian. He has accumulated over 20 years in the chartered banking sector, mainly in the area of mid-market commercial lending.

Barb Elliott is a Director in the Regulatory Advisory Services practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Canada. She has over eleven years experience in auditing a wide range of public companies and over seven years experience in consulting for financial institutions and other public company clients in Canada and overseas on regulatory matters.

 

Hubert Huang

HUBERT HUANG, CA is an Associate Director with Protiviti, a leading global risk and advisory consulting firm. He specializes in governance, finance transformation, and business performance improvement (strategic and operational). Hubert has a wide range of experience in consulting. He has helped companies realize business value through strategy development, process improvement, and technology implementation, in relation to risk management and business processes, as well as in performance management (including business intelligence and outsourcing initiatives). Hubert has also assisted companies in various aspects of Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), including the development and implementation of internal control and disclosure frameworks, reporting processes, and risk assessment methodologies. He has participated in various industry initiatives related to internal control reporting and corporate governance and is a frequent speaker on the subjects.

Hubert has also led various internal audit and process review engagements, including internal audit advisory and strategic sourcing engagements. He has assisted clients with internal audits and reviews of procurement and payment, production, trade promotion management, cash flow forecasting, order-to-cash, treasury, and payroll processes. In addition, Hubert has conducted risk assessments for clients and assisted in developing internal audit and strategic plans, as well as enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks and processes. His other areas of specialization and experience include: Financial and Cost Management (including Activity-Based Costing/Management (ABC/M)), Finance Strategy, and Performance Management (including the Balanced Scorecard). Hubert was previously a member of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP’s Assurance and Business Advisory Services practice, as well as PwC Consulting (which later became IBM Business Consulting Services). Hubert is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and received his Master of Accounting (MAcc) from the University of Waterloo and his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

 

Yaping Jiang
TD Bank Financial Group

 

Dr. Yaping Jiang is currently a senior audit manager in the Investment Banking Audit group within the Internal Audit Department at the TD Bank Financial Group. Her main responsibilities are to assess the adequacy of corporate controls over all quantitative aspects in valuation, risk measurement and management, capital calculation and management, performance measurement and management of financial portfolios. She holds a Ph.D degree in Mathematics and is a certified Financial Risk Manager (FRM). With more than 13 years of Risk Management and Internal Audit experience at several Canadian Banks, Dr. Jiang has a good insight of principles and the framework for effective trading market and credit risk management. She has broad knowledge of financial products, derivatives pricing, model validation, market and credit risk measurement, capital calculation as well as related regulatory and Basell II requirements.

 

Elaine Aimone
Toronto Rehabilitation Institute

 

Elaine Aimone has ten years of experience in quality risk management and performance improvement. Over the past few years, she supported the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute’s development of a risk management framework that brings accountability, performance measurement and risk management together. Her role at the hospital focuses on patient safety, performance measurement, responding to benchmark data, safety leadership walks and supporting staff in continuous improvement methods.

 

Rhoda Lordly
Toronto Rehabilitation Institute

 

Rhoda started her position as Risk Manager at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute (Toronto Rehab) in 2002. In this role, she provides the hospital with direction and assistance in various aspects of risk management and patient relations. Rhoda's area of responsibility also includes Policies and Procedures and Interpreter Services.

Rhoda has 10 years of healthcare experience including Quality Improvement, Patient Relations and Operations in an acute care setting. Prior to coming into healthcare, Rhoda held a variety of sales and marketing positions in the education and IT fields. She has a Commerce degree from Ryerson University, in 2005 completed the Risk Management and Patient Safety Program from the Canadian Healthcare Association and is currently enrolled in the Enterprise Risk Management Certification Program at the University of Toronto and is completing the requirements for the Canadian Risk Management designation.
