Bob Preston is a Senior Vice President with the Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver offices of Deloitte & Touche LLP. He is also a Firm Director and Director of Investigations for Western Canada, and is responsible for investigations in the area of fraud, theft, money laundering, due diligence, background inquiries and asset tracing at the firm. Bob is a former member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police where he conducted investigations and lectured for 28 years on commercial crime investigations, proceeds of crime, asset tracing, money laundering, frauds and serious crimes. During his R.C.M.P. years he was a leader in setting up the Proceeds of Crime Program in Canada, conducting fraud, money laundering, proceeds of crime and other serious criminal investigations in Canada, the U.S., Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and South America. While with the R.C.M.P., Bob compiled the Financial Investigations and Money Laundering Manual for the United Nations in Vienna, Austria. This manual is used worldwide as an authoritative publication on investigative techniques for major financial investigations. Bob also compiled the investigators manual for the R.C.M.P. Anti-Drug Profiteering Units in Canada.

Themis Chrisanthopoulos is the Co-founder and Vice-President of ExperTech Personnel Services Inc. and a recruitment specialist since 1993. Themis has acquired over 12-years of experience in HR and recruitment. After completing a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Relations at McGill, Themis completed a Master's Degree in Industrial Sociology, also at McGill. His research focused on the Japanese labour market and the best practices used by Japanese organizations to retain employees. Presently, Themis specializes in helping companies with their recruitment needs in the field of IT. He also provides consulting services that help organizations develop and implement effective retention strategies.

 


David K. Ross

I recently joined Deloitte (Sept2005), as a Manager, working within the Financial Advisory Service - Forensic and Investigative Services, specifically assigned to develop the business intelligence/due diligence portion of the FAS practice.

I'm a former member of the RCMP, 27 years of service, I conducted numerous criminal investigations within my tenure as an investigator within Commercial Crime, Proceeds of Crime, Drug Enforcement and most recently Major Crimes sections - Project Kare - unsolved homicide task force. I have an expertise in fraud related investigations, money laundering, asset tracing, major case management and interviewing/interrogation. (includes statement analysis- SCAN).

Finally, my formal education : BA ('77) U of Regina and CFE ('96) Austin, Tex.

 


Judy Holcomb-Williams
Benjamin Moore & Company Ltd.

 

Judy Holcomb-Williams is responsible for Human Resources activities for Benjamin Moore & Company Ltd.'s Canadian operation, as well as Organizational Effectiveness on a North American basis. She acts as a business partner with the senior leadership team providing HR Leadership, support and programs that are aligned with Benjamin Moore's business objectives and strategic direction. With her Emotional Intelligence certification and over 15- years of HR experience in brand-focused organizations like NIKE and Benjamin Moore, Judy realizes the importance of ensuring cultural fit into organizations. She has ingrained into Benjamin Moore a hiring and recruitment process that utilizes key assessment tools to facilitate measuring capability and fit, in order to ensure quality hires into the organization.

 


Susan Khatib
Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital.

 

Susan Khatib has worked for the last 19 years at the Jewish Rehabilitation Hospital in Laval, just north of Montreal. Susan has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and is presently working towards her MBA with a concentration in health services. She is also working towards her designation as a Conseiller en ressources humaines agrées (CRHA) to be completed this coming year.

 


Farryl Loney
Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat

Farryl Loney currently holds the position of Senior Security Policy Analyst within the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada. Since January 2001, he has provided policy advice and direction to 97 federal government departments and agencies that fall under the authority of the Government Security Policy. He is a specialist in Personnel Security Screening and wrote the Emergency Readiness Standard for the Government of Canada. Other areas of expertise include, Physical Security, Business Continuity Planning, Security in Contracting, Identification of Assets, Security Risk Management, Information Technology Security and Investigations of Security Incidents. Previously from 1986 to 2000, Mr. Loney served as the Chief of Security Investigations and Chief, Personnel Security Screening Programs within the Department of National Defence. In this position he was responsible for the administration of security clearance and reliability screening determinations for all personnel within the Canadian Forces and Department of National Defence. Over the last thirty-one years, Farryl has worked within the Government of Canada in various other areas.

 


Sharon Sanzo
Canada Bread (A Maple Leaf Foods Inc. Company)

 

Sharon Sanzo is Director of Talent at Canada Bread (A Maple Leaf Foods Inc. Company), one of the independent operating companies of the MapleLeaf Foods empire. Sharon has over 15-years of experience in progressively more senior HR roles within blue-chip companies such as Kraft, Unilever and GlaxoSmithKline. She is experienced at developing both standard and innovative frameworks and strategies for the company's talent management and has built her career through progressive roles in most areas of HR, including recruiting, talent assessment and development, training, rewards and recognition.

 


J. Patrick McKernan
Imperial Oil Limited

Patrick McKernan is the Manager of Corporate Security for Imperial Oil Limited, and has been so since April 2002. Prior to that Patrick was the western Canada Security Advisor for Imperial going back to February 1995. Patrick came to Imperial Oil after a successful 24 year career with the RCMP, of which the last 19 years was in the specialized field of commercial or business crime investigations.

Patrick has a B.A. in Criminology, an M.A. in Education, a Certificate in Security Leadership from Georgetown University, and professional security industry designations as a CPP (Certified Protection Professional) and CFE (Certified Protection Professional). Patrick is an active member of ISMA (International Security Managers Association), the Canadian Chiefs of Police Association (Private Sector Liaison Committee), ASIS (American Society of Industrial Security), ACFE (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners) and CPPI (Canadian Petroleum Products Institute - Security Committee Chairman).

Patrick has designed and taught fraud investigations and security prevention programs, and lectured on a wide variety of security related courses including: physical security standards, vulnerability risk assessments, workplace violence, executive protection, information security and cyber crime, and critical infrastructure protection strategies, to universities, colleges, business and security groups throughout Canada.
