Morten Paulsen brings over a decade of government and public relations experience to Fleishman Hillard's Calgary office in his role as Senior Vice President and General Manager. He served in various capacities for the Canadian Alliance Party during its term as Canada's Official Opposition. In addition, he has led successful campaigns and initiatives at all levels of government. He was a spokesperson for the Conservative Party in this most recent federal election and was co-chair of the 2006 Alberta Provincial PC Convention. In addition to his work in government relations, he has led major awareness and advocacy programs for First Nations, professional associations, oil and gas technology, telecommunications and medical capital campaigns.

Nora Abercrombie Alberta Agriculture and Food

Nora Abercrombie is the Communications and Marketing Leader for the Food Safety Division of Alberta Agriculture, Food and Rural Development. Her primary role is to facilitate effective marketing and communication to support industry to adopt beneficial practices. Well aware of the power of media, she is interested in studying the ethical limits of using marketing techniques to influence citizens in a democracy. In pursuit of a masters degree in Theoretical, Cultural and International Education, Nora has written several academic papers on the use of dramatic narrative to influence opinion and how information must be created for public policy. Nora has delivered communications and change strategies to public sector clients for over 20 years.

Cynthia Blackmore Reynolds-Alberta Museum |
Cynthia Blackmore is Head of Marketing and Communications for the Reynolds-Alberta Museum. Her responsibilities include marketing, communications, public relations and media relations. She also develops and implements strategic marketing and communications plans, identifies audiences, develops museum messages, develops print and electronic creative, selects media to be used and conducts media buy. She is a highly competent marketing and communications professional with more than 20 years diverse experience in both the private and public sectors. She has extensive experience writing and editing publications and promotional print materials. She is a creative director/executive producer of radio and television commercials, an effective communicator with well developed writing and presentation skills and an affective team member and builder, comfortable leading or collaborating.

Pam Bristol Industry and Resources, Government of Saskatchewan

Pam Bristol is Marketing Director for Saskatchewan Industry and Resources (SIR). Saskatchewan Industry and Resources (SIR) coordinates, develops, promotes and implements policies and programs of the Government of Saskatchewan that strengthen and diversify the Saskatchewan economy. SIR is the lead provincial government agency to spur economic growth and development of the province's resource sector. The department has a twofold role: to offer direct programs and services to individuals and businesses and to play a role in co-ordinating economic development activities among other departments and agencies.

Donna McGeachie British Columbia Transmissions Corporation

Donna McGeachie is the Manager, Community Relations for the British Columbia Transmission Corporation, the Crown corporation responsible for planning, operating and maintaining the Province's publicly owned high voltage electric transmission system.
BCTC recently filed its annual Capital Plan, which outlines investments of $3.2 billion in BC's transmission assets over the next ten years. At BCTC Donna leads a team of community relations specialists responsible for community relations, public consultation and communications on major capital projects. Prior to joining BCTC in 2004, Donna was Manager of Community Relations for Terasen Gas.

Phillip Coppard Provoke Applied Strategy

Philip Coppard is a principal of Provoke, a Calgary-based consulting firm that specializes in strategic planning for public and private health care organizations, as well as a wide range of social marketing campaigns. Recent projects have focused on preventing such issues as child sexual exploitation, family violence, motor vehicle theft and aboriginal youth suicide.

 Jason Gariepy Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development
|
Jason Gariepy is the Director of Communications for Alberta Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development. He's worked with Aboriginal organizations and communities at national and provincial levels. He brings a unique understanding and perspective to Aboriginal relations. He has travelled across Alberta on behalf of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police's Aboriginal and Community Policing Branch to raise awareness and bridge the cultural gap between police officers and Aboriginal people. He was also instrumental in establishing Métis Crossing, Alberta's premier centre for Métis cultural interpretation. He is a sought-after speaker who entertains and informs his audience on practical strategies to connect with Aboriginal people.

Craig Marler Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development

Craig Marler is Account Director, Calder Bateman Communications. He is the account lead on the Alberta Traffic Safety Initiative, the Alberta Tobacco Reduction Strategy, AADAC's Crystal Meth campaign and the Alberta Occupant Restraint Program. He thrives on the opportunity to make a difference. One of his proudest social marketing experiences was working closely with Barb Tarbox during her crusade to reach youth about the dangers of smoking. He is also President of the Advertising Club of Edmonton.

Kiann McNeill Health and Wellness, Alberta

Kiann McNeill is the Manager of Corporate Communications for the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC). As an agency of the government of Alberta, AADAC has a mandate to provide information, prevention and treatment for alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and gambling to all Albertans. In her role, she leads the development of social marketing campaigns and for the past three years has been managing the Alberta Tobacco Reduction Strategy social marketing campaign. She has been working in the field of communications and marketing for the past 15 years for organizations such as the Canadian Red Cross and Capital Health.

Cindy Pickett is a senior leader at The City of Calgary with 20 years of management experience. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with Marketing & Business majors. Cindy has held management positions in all sectors of business including government, private, non-profit, and regulated industries such as telecommunications. Cindy's current role at The City of Calgary is Director of Customer Service & Communications, where she is responsible for managing The City's Corporate Contact Centre (311), Web Portal (Calgary.ca), advertising services, creative production, market research, internal & external communications/marketing, brand management, media relations, crisis communications, sponsorship, and public engagement. Cindy's areas of expertise include organizational and process re-design, staff and financial management, strategic communication, marketing & business planning.

Since 1997 Jess has focused his career on understanding and developing positive user experiences for his clients and their users. Jess draws on techniques from usability, information architecture, and user research to generate client insight to drive innovation and create better customer experiences. His value-centered approach grounds customer experience strategy at the intersection of business goals and customer goals to produce return on investment for clients, and 'return on experience' for their customers.
Jess regularly writes and speaks at conferences about user experience. He has contributed ideas and material for several user experience books, including Lou Rosenfeld and Peter Morville's Information Architecture for the World Wide Web, 2nd Ed.; Jesse James Garrett's The Elements of User Experience and Peter van Dijck's Information Architecture for Designers. His work appears as a case study in Designing Websites for Every Audience by Ilise Benun.
Jess co-founded the Information Architecture Institute, the international professional organization for information architects, and served on the Board of Directors for 2004 and 2005. |
